Sin is punishable by death. But the gift of God is eternal life. It is as plain and as clear cut as that. “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so death came to all men because all have sinned” [Rom 5:12]
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. [Rom 6:23]
