Adam and Eve

.
People think that Darwin disproves the Bible but in fact he confirms it. The Bible tells us that Adam came out of the ground and Eve which means living things came out of Adam, a fact that Darwin “discovered” only comparatively recently. This is what we call evolution which is so well described at the beginning of the Bible.

But the Bible goes one better than Darwin and sets out all the geological periods of creation as it unfolds and evolves going back to the Big Bang which Darwin fails to do.

Genesis chapters 1, 2, and 3 are the creation account which ends by telling us that sin came into the world through disobedience. The first people were living about 12 million years ago and the Bible tells us man came out of the ground which in the Hebrew is “adamah” and out of "adamah" evolved living beings which in the Hebrew is “hawwah.” Translated into English it becomes adam and eve, or in the Hebrew “living beings from out of the ground.”

Then in Genesis chapter four we move forward several million years to early recorded history. By this time there were other tribes and nations and civilisation is well advanced with people playing musical instruments, working in metal and building walled cities and this is where it all begins approximately 5000 years ago with the family who were called Adam, Eve and Cain and Able.

Just to add that Adam comes from the Hebrew adamah meaning “ground” and Eve comes from the Hebrew word hawwah which means “a living being.”

The creation account in the Bible tells us that "living beings" (all forms) were formed out of the "ground."

Man came last after everything else.

For once Dawkins got something right but it took science about 4000 years to catch up with Genesis.

All Dawkins has to do now is to discover the truth about the teaching of Christ. He should stick to his own subject.

And of course just because Genesis was written about 3400 years ago does not mean the first people should be dated back to this time as obviously when Genesis was being written civilisation was fairly well advanced, they had writing for example, meaning the human race dates back to a much earlier period which should be obvious from the first line in the Bible that says, "In the beginning........"

.

The fist verse of the Bible is talking about the Big Bang and the cosmos. In the beginning God (then there is a gap) created the heavens (the universe), and the earth. Then there is another gap while creation takes place. The first time MAN (Adam) appears is when he names the animals millions of years after the Big Bang.

ADAM is a Babylonian word and is the generic name for man, having the same meaning in the Hebrew and the Assyrian languages.

EVE is from the Hebrew, Hawwah, lit. "a living being."

This is the first mention of MAN (Adam)
Gen 2:19
And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam (man) to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam (man) called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field;

And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam (man) said, "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."

The first people were Man and Woman. Adam means man and woman means 'living being.'

***********************************************************************************

The first occurrence of Adam in the NIV is in Genesis chapter 2 that firstly describes how the man in chapter one received the breath of life and goes on to say, “But for Adam [h] no suitable helper was found."

Chapter three speaks of the Garden of Eden and introduces Eve meaning ‘living being.’

Chapter four moves forward several thousand years to when people were building walled cities, playing musical instruments and working in metal.

Notes

Adam is the Hebrew word ‘adamah’ which means ground and literally translated is “the one formed from the ground.” Strictly speaking it should read:

“But for ‘the one formed from the ground’ no suitable helper was found.”
