Blood represents life and kinship, it represents a bond that cannot be broken (brother, sister, mother of father) and the giving of blood (euphemism for death) is the ultimate sacrifice that can be made, paid for with the greatest price.
When people got married the custom was to make a pin-prick so that blood flowed mingled together in an everlasting covenant that could not be broken and even though the marriage might be annulled, the covenant or the promise that had been made between them could not be unmade, what was done was done and the covenant was for all time. This is why the convent God made with man for the salvation of souls cannot be broken and is irrespective of race or creed, all are united in Him who is our Heavenly Father.
Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ paid the highest price on Calvary's Cross for the remission of OUR sins by the shedding of His precious blood in whom we have redemption through his blood and the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; (Ephesians 1:7)
